What I Took Away From Listening to Melinda Gates

I watched David Letterman's "My Next Guest interviews last night, when Letterman had Melinda Gates on. I had let them fall behind so I could binge watch several in a row to kill time. Melinda spoke about the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and how they decide where to go and who to help. They are now given advice and extra funding from Warren Buffet so he doesn't have to give money to several different charities and can just distribute help through them.
One of the main things she mentioned is that as a Catholic, she had to put her religious beliefs aside and concentrate on what women around the world needed. One of the things that she has found out from talking to women around the world in poverty environments, is that one of the biggest creators of poverty around the world is when women do not have access to birth control.
Let me repeat that - She said, "What I have found from talking to women around the world about many subjects is that one of the biggest creators of poverty is when women do not have access to birth control."
Remember that. When some rich people want to take away womens' right to choose is a way they create poverty which keeps them in a position of power.
Ladies, you all need to remember that when you research a candidate's voting record for ANY OFFICE. IF they are anti abortion, then they are pro poverty. Let them know that you know that.
Melinda Gates is trying to get the pope to back off on that one for humanitarian reasons. This pseudo-morality of an ancient patriarchal and misogynistic society is long overdue to be ended world wide. We can never end poverty or even come close to income equality until we stop pretending that they care about YOU when they force their ignorant antiquated rules on you.
