Facebook's new boss is angry with people who want them to stop politicians from lying to people in their advertising. I find this disgusting. Facebook keeps sending me, personally, some letter about me requesting to run political 'ads' which I have never done and don't want to.
I post a lot of NEWS stories about political leanings and people in the news who report or critique politics but I don't run 'ADS' because most of those are written by advertising agencies who get paid to 'SPIN' (LIE) about the intentions and speech of politicians and I am an advocate for truth.
This has become a real issue for ALL SOCIAL MEDIA because there are so many people who think it is cute to start rumors and state opinions as facts or the actual internet trolls whose whole lives consist of enjoying angering people and making them react emotionally.
Unfortunately many news companies can't be trusted to tell the truth. I find that independent media that doesn't get paid to lie like commercial news stations do, is more accurate.
I had a sponsee that told me he was taught never to believe anything said as a sarcastic joke. The fact is that most comedians make fun of the politics because they aren't paid to pick a side and lie to us. George Carlin is a great example of someone who was considered goofy, at the time, when he used to talk about politics or society and is now considered a philosophical prophet by many now because of his shocking commentary while he was alive. So when we hear a Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, George Carlin, etc., say something we wondered about but didn't have to guts to articulate, we laugh because we wanted to say that ever since we realized it seemed stupidly obvious.
My point is,
1. don't believe anything until you see proof. People on social media lie all the time, to themselves and therefore, to us,
2. also. Fox News and other 'conservative news' people are FAKE NEWS broadcast by people who make excuses for greed and politicians who support their own greed, and call their stations or podcasts 'entertainment' and most of us can't understand who they are 'entertaining' and wish they would stop lying to influence elections and the social beliefs in the publicly uninformed.
3. So, many people on social media want to influence your ideology using lies and there are some who want to anger those who know better.
4. There are fact checking organisations that get paid to tell you the truth like Snopes.com, Factchecker.org, Votesmart.com, and Opensecrets.com where you can find the truth from people who spend the time to check sources and accuracy.
I find that polling sites lie all the time, and the only one I trust is the Pew Research Institute that actually samples EVERYONE not a select audience and takes the time to be bipartisan. If anyone tries to tell you they are lying, realize that that person is lying to support other liars.
Also, NPR news (not opinion or editorials) is usually pretty accurate.
NATE SILVER 538 now posts opinions and commentary that are not based on facts so, make sure that you are looking at 538 polling data from that site and not an op-ed piece.
